Google will not continue Wave further

Google wave is a super flop service from google. So google will not be providing support for it any more nor the further improvement. As per google most of the technology like drag and drop, real time collaboration, etc are already open source.

Google wave

Last year google launched Google wave. They showed the innovative features like character by character live typing, drag and drop files from desktop on web browser. No doubt they got landed themselves on the highest peak on real time communication and collaboration on web. Then why google is not planning to further develop the wave as standalone product? The only thing I notice that failed the google wave is user interface. User interface means a lot to the end users. Peoples even technical experts find very difficult to find the item they want with the confusing navigation items. Any one can guess how huge they have invested to research things like realtime communication and collaboration on web, then why compromise on user interface. Ultimately its a web world and targeted to peoples who are too much used on twitter and Facebook.

We don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product, but we will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects. The central parts of the code, as well as the protocols that have driven many of Wave’s innovations, like drag-and-drop and character-by-character live typing, are already available as open source, so customers and partners can continue the innovation we began. In addition, we will work on tools so that users can easily “liberate” their content from Wave. Says google
