Traffic is one of the most important thing for any successful website. Without traffic there is no meaning of any website. These days major search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN plays major roles in forwarding users to your site. Search engine optimization (SEO) comes here when you want to list your site on the top when users searches on the search engine with some keyword. Here are some tips on how to optimize your site for major search engines like Google, Yahoo, msn etc. These are just the basic tips, you must work hard and be patience to achieve the result. Traffic does not comes overnight , you must be patient and wait for some times after you made some changes on your site to see if it really worked or not.
Tip 1: Proper selection of domain name.
The basic rule is your domain name must have proper keyword. Don’t include numerals on your domain name.
For eg: you have a music store and you sell music online or you have a referral site regarding music and you earn money throguh referral, put the keyword music somewhere on your domain name. For eg: www.music-masti.com
Tip 2: Keyword based pages
- Dont use dummy urls. Use meaning full urls like www.musci-masti.com/britney.html instead of www.music-masti.com/brit-123.html. Basic idea is put keywords on the urls.
Tip 3: Use HTML tags properly
- User proper tags on your web pages. Tags also plays important role here. Make sure to include the following tags properly on your site.
i. Title tag
ii. Meta Descritpion tag
iii. Meta keyword tag
iv. H1, H3, H3, H4…. tags
Tip 4: Avoid Frames, Ajax, Iframes
- Eliminate frames, ajax, iframes, javascript as much as possible. Try to not to use frames, ajax, iframes on your web pages. Don’t use too much javascirpt codes.
Tip 5: Submit url to search engines
Submit your base url to the major search engines. Search engines allows you to submit your base url free of cost.

ii. Live (MSN) (http://search.msn.com/docs/submit.aspx)
Tip 6: Put links on relevant blogs, articles.
- One of the important parameter search engines ranks your site is the number of links of your site on other sites. Find the blogs, articles that match the niche of your site. These blogs can be the good source of referrals for your site. Put some good meaning full comments there and link back to you.
Tip 7: Contents matter a lot:
- Search engines like Google loves content. Create contents that are unique and value to your visitor. Don’t stop, build more more contents. Content is major key of success to any site.
